A Tullahoma man is being held in the Coffee County Jail under $105,000 bond after being arrested on kidnapping, sex and drug charges.
Jamaal Rahini Buchanan, 31, of South Gentry Street, is charged with two counts of sexual battery, two counts of kidnapping, possession of marijuana and cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Manchester Times does not identify victims of sexual assault.
Tullahoma Police Department officer Cory Cannon reports that he answered a call early Wednesday at the Gentry Street residence, where he found two women standing in the roadway with ripped clothing and that a man they identified as Buchanan had left the area.
According to the officer’s report, the women told the officer that Buchanan had sexually assaulted them.
The women alleged that around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday Buchanan invited them to his residence to watch a movie.
According to the report, Buchanan “offered the women drugs in exchange for sex,” but the women refused. The report states that Buchanan then made one of the women a drink, which she said made her feel sick, and when she attempted to call for an ambulance, he took her phone away.
According to the report, she then tried to wake Buchanan’s roommate but was unable to do so. When Buchanan realized what she was doing, the report states, he pulled her back into the room, started to curse her, “sexually grabbed” her, grabbed her by the throat, threw her down and started pulling her shirt off.
During that time, the report further states, the other woman ran to a house next door for help.
The women allege that while they were fighting with Buchanan in hopes of getting away he grabbed them in a sexual manner.
According to Cannon, attempts to contact anyone inside the house where the alleged attack occurred were unsuccessful, but he did see a woman’s shoe and shirt inside the house.
According to the report, upon entering the house the officer found 17.4 grams of marijuana and one gram of cocaine that the women allege that Buchanan offered them for sex.
Cannon asked the communications center to notify other officers to be on the lookout for Buchanan’s black Mitsubishi. That car was located at Shelton Mobile Home Park in Manchester by Manchester police officer Jason Kennedy. Officers from the Manchester Police Department and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department then located Buchanan and arrested him. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail.
Buchanan is scheduled to appear in Coffee County General Sessions Court June 27 on the charges.
