The Manchester Recreation Center will be offering two basketball camps and a speed and agility camp in July.
Basketball basic fundamentals camp will be held Monday through Friday, July 8-12, from 8 a.m. till noon for boys and girls from pre-K through third grade. This camp will focus on dribbling, passing, shooting, offense, defense and other skills. Camp for boys and girls in fourth through eighth grades will be held Monday through Friday, July 15-19, from 8 a.m. till noon. This camp will include instruction and practice on full-court figure-eights, man-to-man and zone defense, boxing out and rebounding, and position play at post, wing and point guard.
The speed, agility and quickness camp for children ages 7-15 will be held Monday through Friday, July 22-26 at the rec center. This camp is intended to help children develop proper form when running and while performing sports-related motions such as sprinting, jumping, lateral movements and other transition moves from one position to another. Camp will also emphasize the need to perform these transitions fast while maintaining good technique.
Cost for each camp is $50 per child for members and $55 for non-members.
The rec center will also be offering nine weeks of summer day camps through the end of July. Costs for day camps are $45 for rec center members and $50 for non-members.
