Just in time for the Fourth of July holidays, the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) is sponsoring its annual carnival, which will be held behind the FOP building on the Old Manchester-Tullahoma Highway.
“The carnival will be open July 2-6 from 5 to 11 p.m.,” said Capt. Rodney Banks of the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department. He added that fireworks will be featured on Thursday and Saturday nights, as well.
“There is free admission and free parking,” Banks said. “Armbands will be sold for the rides.”
Attractions will include “kiddie rides” and a 300-foot roller coaster.
For the young children there will be a petting zoo to include a baby miniature pony, goats and several other animals for children to pet and see up close.
Banks said that proceeds would go to the FOP’s program to help injured or needy officers with expenses.
“In the past we have also made donations to the Haven of Hope and the Hands-On Science Center,” he said.
Banks noted that “food always tastes better” at a carnival and there will be plenty of vendors offering their wares, including barbecue.
Playland Amusement is providing the carnival.
