Connie Sanders King, 37, was arrested July 2 in Daytona Beach, Fla., on a murder indictment issued by the Coffee County grand jury involving the shooting death of Thomas Colucci, 41, last November at his residence on Maple Springs Rd. in the Pocahontas community.

Deputies from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department took the indictments from the Coffee County grand jury to Florida and with authorities there arrested King, who was working in a motorcycle shop. She later waived extradition back to Coffee County to face the murder charge.

Her estranged husband, Troy King, 41, was arrested March 6 of this year in Imperial Beach, Calif., on the same murder charges. After fighting extradition, he was finally returned in March to the Coffee County Jail where he is being held under $1 million bond.

Investigators say that on the morning of Nov. 13, 2012, the body of Colucci was found in the residence after Connie King ran to the roadway covered with blood and screaming for help.

At the time, she claimed that someone broke into the residence, shot Colucci and beat her up. She said the assailant then left in Colucci’s vehicle, which was later found in Manchester area.

Sheriff’s investigators said they developed leads that pointed to Troy and Connie King as suspects.

Connie King was booked into the Coffee County Jail on the charges and then was transferred to an area jail.

“We moved her to another jail since Troy is being held here,” Coffee County Sheriff Steve Graves said. A court date will be set later.

The sheriff did not disclose what investigators allege the motive was for the murder.

Published reports said Colucci was the father of two young sons and was the stage manager of Granny-nominated country music artist Jo Dee Messina.
