Babe Ruth all-star 14s lose to Franklin Stealth

milton stanley bylineAfter three straight wins to open the Babe Ruth baseball 14-year-old state championship tournament, the Manchester all-star 14s lost 6-1 Monday to Franklin Stealth. The game at Powers Field was the winner’s bracket championship.

Update: Manchester will play Cookeville Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Powers Field behind Coffee County Central High School.

Manchester coach Pete Rob praised his team’s performance against a travel team that has played more than 60 games together.

“They were in the game all the way to the last swing. They didn’t give up, they didn’t get frustrated,” Rob said. “I’m proud of them.”

Manchester was scheduled to play an elimination game later Monday night, but the contest has been rescheduled to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Central High School.

Manchester’s 15-year-olds are playing an elimination game in the their state tournament in Lawrenceburg.
