TVA closes Barton Springs area to horseback riding
Following through on what it proposed last year, the TVA has announced the closure of riding trails to unauthorized horseback riding on TVA’s Normandy reservoir.
In a press release the TVA said the closure is necessary to prevent additional damage to federal public lands an further environmental degradation. However, other compatible public uses such as hunting, camping, hiking and fishing is allowed provided the activities are conducted in compliance with state and local laws and TVA rules, regulations, guidelines or policies.
Signage will be posted at the entrance to trails affected.
TVA security and local law enforcement officers will enforce trail closure and are authorized to ticket any horseback riders for trespassing.
