Lady Raiders drop district match; try again Thursday
The Central High School girls soccer squad dropped a district match at Shelbyville Tuesday but will be trying to even its district record Thursday night at home against Franklin County.
For the second straight match the Lady Raiders were unable to generate any offense as the Eaglettes came out on top 3-0. Katie Reid, Lexee Miller and Mackenzie Anderson combined for 11 shots on goal, but none of them landed in the net. Coffee County’s Ali Shelton and Holly Smithson combined for nine saves at keeper.
“Hard loss in our district,” said CHS coach David Amado. “One more district game to go, and we need the win.”
Coffee County is now 7-5 overall and 2-3 in District 8-AAA.
In addition to being the final regular-season district match for the Lady Raiders, Thursday’s game at Carden-Jarrell Field will also be senior night for Coffee County girls soccer. CHS seniors Reid, Miller, Anna Nickels and Morgan Perry will be recognized.
District tournament competition begins Saturday, Oct. 12.
