Manchester man arrested for 17th offense of driving on revoked
A Manchester man is being held in the Coffee County Jail after being arrested early Saturday morning for his 17th offense of driving on a revoked driver’s license.
According to a report by Manchester Police Department officer Derek Jones, Shawn D. Lewis, 39, of Jacoby Jamison Drive, was arrested Saturday at approximately 2:15 a.m. on the charges following a crash in a parking lot on Jacoby Jamison Drive.
According to the police report, Lewis was driving a Ford Mustang when he allegedly struck a stationary pickup truck in the parking lot. Jones had been dispatched to the scene after a caller complained of “squealing tires creating a disturbance.” The officer allegedly found tire marks from Lewis’ residence to where the truck was struck.
According to the officer, both the Mustang and the pickup truck suffered heavy damage. Zachary T. Brown, 27, also of Jacoby Jamison Street, is the owner of the truck, according to the police report.
Lewis informed the officer at the scene that he did not have a driver’s license, and when Jones contacted the Coffee County Communication Center he learned that Lewis did not have registration or insurance on the Mustang, according to the report.
In addition to the arrest for driving on a revoked license, Lewis was issued a citation for reckless driving, no insurance and no registration. He is being held in the Coffee County Jail under a bond of $25,500
