BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc. (Hibbett), the national sporting goods retailer based in Birmingham, Ala., is pleased to announce the execution of a lease for a new store in Manchester, Tenn.
Hibbett Sports plans to open the new location this summer in the Whispering Pines Shopping Plaza on Hillsboro Boulevard. The store anticipates employing eight full and part-time team members. Currently Hibbett has 59 other locations in the state of Tennessee alone.
“I’m glad it is coming,” said Manchester Mayor Lonnie Norman. “It is something we have been working on for a while. [Alderman] Cheryl [Swan] has done a lot of work on that, too. I’m glad it has materialized and glad they could come. We are trying our best to work on some more things.”
Hibbett is a fast-growing operator of over 921 full-line sporting goods stores in small to mid-sized markets, predominantly in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest.
Hibbett Sports stores offer a large selection of quality branded athletic equipment, footwear and apparel, with a focus on knowledgeable, friendly customer service and providing customers with information they can’t always get at other stores selling sporting goods. Hibbett Sports has a long history of focusing on the needs of local teams and leagues, with a variety of services to meet the needs of coaches and players alike.
According to a release from the company, Hibbett is the only sporting goods chain committed to serving small and mid-size markets. This strategy has proved to be a successful one for Hibbett as the company continues to expand its number of stores across the U.S.
