Kelsey Munn goes up for a shot against Summit Tuesday night at CHS.
The Lady Raider basketball team broke a six game losing streak Tuesday night with a 45-33 win over visiting Summit High School.
The game was extremely close through the first three quarters with the Lady Raiders leading by two points at the end of the first and second and by four, 33-29, at the end of the third.
The CHS defense was strong in the final quarter, holding the Lady Spartans to just four points. Offensively, 10 of the 12 Lady Raiders points in the final period came in the paint with Sara Brown and Tyger fenton each scoring four points to help push CHS to the win.
Fenton led CHS with 11 points followed by Lauren Brown with 10.
With the win, the Lady Raiders are now 6-14 on the season.
The boys game, like the girls, was extremely tight through the first three quarters but this time it would be the visiting team pulling away in the final frame for a 55-51 win.
The Raiders had trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half but a J.P. Duncan 15-footer tied the game 23-23 at the intermission.
The Raiders controlled much of the third quarter but a late run from Summit tied the game again heading into the final frame. A foul called on Peyton Talley at the end of quarter allowed Summit to tie the game 35-35 with a free throw.
The Spartans went on a 6-0 run to start the fourth and led 41-35 with just under six minutes to go in the game.
The Raiders made a late push and cut the lead to three when Talley was fouled shooting and 3-pointer and drained all three free throws but the visiting team was able to hold off CHS for the win.
Addison Carter led the Raiders with 16 points. Zach Taylor also finished in double figures with 10.
Friday night at 6 p.m. CHS hosts Lincoln County in District 8-AAA action.
