Raiders fall to Columbia in 8-AAA semifinals

The Raiders looked to make it two upsets in a row Saturday afternoon when they took on Columbia in the semifinals of the District 8-AAA tournament in Shelbyville.
Things started off well for CHS, using solid defense and rebounding to lead 14-13 after the first quarter.
The second frame was just as close and at the half the Raiders and Lions were tied 26-26.
The game remained tied early in the second half but by the 5:45 mark the Lions led 35-28. The Raiders fought back and tied the game 38-38 midway through the quarter but the Lions took over from there. By the end of the third Columbia led 56-44.
Columbia led by as many as 20 early in the fourth before CHS tried to rally, cutting the lead to ten midway through the fourth. The Raiders were forced to start fouling late in the game and the Lions hit their free throws to claim a 84-69 win.
Lucas Crismond led CHS with 27 points in the game followed by J.P. Duncan with 17.
The Raiders will play in the third place game of the tournament at 6 p.m. Tuesday night in Shelbyville.
