CHS Baseball Bash to be held March 8th

The Central High School baseball team will be hosting the first-ever Coffee County Baseball Bash on March 8at Powers Field. The day will include a youth baseball clinic in the morning and scrimmage action from the Raiders, Westwood Middle and Coffee County Middle School.

“I was looking for a way to get all the baseball in Coffee County together in one day and talked to the youth league people and the middle schools in the fall,” said CHS head coach Brent Whitlock. “Everyone is excited about it. Everyone who is involved in baseball in Coffee County will get a chance to play together for a day.”

The youth clinic, for ages six to 12 will kick the day off at around 9 a.m. and Westwood will take the field first in scrimmage action. The Rockets will take on Lincoln County at 10:30 a.m. followed by an intra-squad scrimmage by the high school team at 1 p.m. Coffee Middle will cap the day’s action at 3:30 p.m. when they scrimmage Oakland Middle School.

“I think it will be good for our older guys to work with the younger kids and it gives the younger guys a chance to see the high school team and hopefully gives them something to aspire to,” explained Whitlock. “We want to give them a chance to see the facilities and see our program and hopefully that will make them want to be Red Raiders when they get older.”
