MONDAY ROUNDUP: CHS baseball stays perfect in district play; Lady Rockets win

The Red Raider baseball team moved to 3-0 in District 8-AAA with a 3-1 win over Lincoln County Monday night in Fayetteville. Kyle Douglas pitched a complete game, surrendering just four hits while striking out 11. Peyton Meeker had a two-RBI double in the game. The Raiders will play the Falcons again Tuesday — game time has been changed from 7 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Powers Field.
“We are excited, this is a big district win,” said head coach Brent Whitlock. “We are happy to come out of there with a quality win.
“Tomorrow (Tuesday) is going to be the same thing, we need to keep playing solid defense and pitching well and get a couple key hits like we did tonight.”
The Central High School tennis teams lost at Columbia on Monday. The Lady Raiders fell 5-2 to the District 8-AAA leading Lionettes. Maddie Taylor won 9-7 and Senior Audra Schaffer won 8-4.
The boys team lost 7-0. The squads will be back in action Tuesday at home against Franklin County.
The Westwood softball team bested Cannon County Monday night to improve to 7-2 on the season. Lady Rocket Raven Rogers allowed just four hits while striking out seven in the win.
The Lady Rockets will host Moore County at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
CCMS soccer lost to North Franklin 2-0.
CCMS boys golf finished first against Westwood, Liberty and Harris. The Lady Rockets of Westwood won in girls play.
CHS J.V. baseball beat Lincoln Co. 4-0.
