‘The Big Payback’ countdown started by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee
The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has started the official countdown to Middle Tennessee’s first The Big Payback. The Big Payback is a region-wide, 24-hour online giving event created to help Middle Tennessee nonprofits raise funds vital to continue their work, which directly improves the community around them.
From 6 a.m. on May 6 until 6 a.m. on May 7, anyone can visit TheBigPayback.org and make donations to their choice of participating nonprofits, including schools and churches, that serve the 40 counties of Middle Tennessee. Nonprofits will vie for financial prizes totaling more than $150,000 in the 24-hour period.
“The Big Payback will be the most inclusive, most collaborative giving event in Middle Tennessee history. It will be an easy, fun and a meaningful way for all of us to show our local pride and give back,” said Ellen Lehman, president of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. “Nonprofits do life-changing work every day across Middle Tennessee and it’s time for us to come together to support their efforts and recognize the positive impact they have on our neighbors, in our own backyards.”
Gifts from the public will be boosted with funds from corporate sponsors of The Big Payback. An online leaderboard will track donations in real time. Corporate sponsorships opportunities are still available.
Public donors will be able to view and select from participating nonprofits based on location and focus area, such as animals, education, healthcare and more. Donors can support multiple nonprofits and make gifts of any size, from $10 and up.
The countdown started during a kick-off event organized to prepare participating nonprofits to make the most of The Big Payback. More than 650 people representing 365 nonprofits came together at The Music City Center for trainings, inspiring community support and how to more effectively use social media. Attendees also received materials to help them build support in advance of May 6.
Nonprofits interested in participating in The Big Payback should register by March 28. Details can be found at TheBigPayback.org.
