Meeker’s home run lifts Raiders past Wildcats

Peyton Meeker blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning Wednesday night in Manchester to help his team to a 4-1 win over cross-county rival Tullahoma at Powers Field in Manchester.
“It was a little tough to get used to the pitching tonight,” said Meeker. “Last night we saw [Justus] Sheffield and he is so much faster, we really had to be patient tonight but I just sat back and waited on my pitch.”
Meeker also earned the win on the mound, pitching a complete game, surrendering just one hit while striking out seven.
Hudson Rollman got the scoring started for CHS in the bottom of the third when he ripped a two-RBI single. He advanced to third and the Raiders scored another run on an error to makethe lead 3-0.
Tullahoma plated its only run of the game in the top of the fifth when Justus Sheffield scored on a sacrifice fly.
The Lady Raider softball team fell 7-3 at Lincoln County Wednesday night. The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Lady Falcons plated seven runs across the third, fourth and fifth innings.
The Westwood baseball team earned its second win of the season Wednesday. Playing just their second home game of the year, the Rockets defeated Moore County 14-9.
Jeremiah Franklin hit a grand slam in the game and finished the night with five RBIs.
The Lady Raiders swept North Franklin County Wednesday in Winchester. CCMS won game one 4-2 and game two 5-2. Haley Richardson earned both wins for the Lady Raiders.
