Relay For Life slated for Friday night
Coffee County American Cancer Society Relay For Life will be Friday night at the Coffee County fairgrounds.
“This year’s event is going to be full of excitement and a little something for everyone, so bring the whole family and help us make a difference!” stated Samantha Chamblee, the Relay For Life Specialist for Coffee County.
There will be a variety of great food, games, and a LIVE auction with some really nice items up for auction including a pair of earrings valued at $499! All the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society to fund research, programs, education, and advocacy.
“This a life-changing event that gives everyone in the community across the globe a chance to Celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, Remember loved ones lost, and Fight Back against the disease,” Chamblee said. “The funds you raise truly make a difference in the fight against cancer – just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year! While the American Cancer Society is making progress toward a world without cancer, only with your dedication and fundraising efforts can we finish the fight against the disease. With your help, we aren’t just fighting one type of cancer – we’re fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. Each person who shares the Relay For Life experience can take pride in knowing that they are working to create a world where this disease will no longer threaten our loved ones or rob anyone of another birthday. Join us Friday, April 25th as we come together as a community to fight back.”
One of the programs offered by the American Cancer Society is the Hope Lodge. Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city. Not having to worry about where to stay or how to pay for lodging allows guests to focus on getting well.
In 2013, 91 Coffee County residents stayed at a Hope Lodge, your donations are what make these types of programs possible and helps save lives.
