The annual Manchester Independence Day celebration will be held Friday, July 4, with most of the events taking place at the Manchester Recreation Center and Manchester Rotary Park.

A Firecracker 5k/10k run will be held in the morning with musical entertainment beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 10 p.m. at Rotary Amphitheater in Rotary Park. Independence Day fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.

“The fireworks will be shot from the field across from the recreation complex, so people will have a great view from Rotary Park and the rec center,” said Bonnie Gamble, director of parks and recreation.

Music will begin at 6 p.m. and feature Skytown Riot and Mize the Drive. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. The recreation center pool will also be open from noon until 4:45 p.m. on July 4. The rest of the center will be closed. The recreation center is located at 557 N. Woodland St.

“We have great sponsors that are helping put all of this on,” said Gamble, “Big thanks to Manchester Times, Manchester Tourism Committee, Coffee County Realty, Eaton Ace Hardware, Watsons Metal, Carquest and J&W Repair.”

Fireworks will likely be most visible from Rotary Park, Fred Deadman Park, the Manchester Times office and other various locations near North Woodland Street.
