District 14 Coffee County Commission race remains tied
Residents of District 14 and the two candidates seeking a Coffee County Commission seat will have to wait another few weeks to see who will be elected.
Republican candidate Lamar Wilkie and Democratic Candidate Missy Deford, both seeking Coffee County Commission District 14 seat, remain tied with 254 votes each after a provisional ballot opened Tuesday did not contain a vote for either candidate.
After the Aug. 7 General Election, both Deford and Wilkie were tied with 254 votes each. One provisional ballot was cast without photo ID. Once that voter showed proof of photo ID Monday, the provisional ballot was opened Tuesday but neither Deford nor Wilkie were selected in the commission race, leaving both with 254.
Now the new Coffee County Commission will vote at its September meeting to select one of the candidates for the position, according to the Coffee County Election Commission….
