The move comes as no surprise after two meetings with McFall over the past few weeks to discuss contracts and expectations.

“I’m very excited to be here,” McFall said. “I look farward to becoming a part of the community.”

McFall said her first order of business is to get with administrators and the heads of the schools to get “a lay of the land – evaluate programs and see how things work.”

The current director Kenny Casteel will finish the last month of his contract working with McFall.

Following the board meeting McFall signed a contract with the district for an annual salary of $108,000.

The details of her start date and her extra-contractual pay before her contract goes into effect were not settled at the meeting.

McFall currently resides in Jefferson City, Tenn. She is the assistant director of schools in Jefferson County and an adjunct professor at Tusculum College. She holds a Doctorate of education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; a Master’s in education and human development/administration and supervision from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University.
