SIMMONS, Melanie Jean, age 58 of Hillsboro, Tennessee, passed away on September 3, 2012 with her loving family by her side. She was preceded in death by her father, the late Walter Simmons. Melanie will be fondly remembered as one who loved her family and friends, and one who loved to paint, draw, quilt, write poetry, sing in the choir and participate in the Special Olympics. Melanie was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her mother, Aleta Maie Carter Simmons of Hillsboro, TN; sisters, Dianne (Ross) Reed of Hillsboro, TN, Sharon Greenfield of Murfreesboro and Cathey Pressley of Hillsboro; nephews, Stephen Reed, Jason (Tracey) Reed, Josh Greenfield, Dustin (Jessica) Presley; nieces, Amber Greenfield, Cindy (Jason) Ford and Mandy (Shane) Strunk; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation was on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service was conducted on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Rushing officiating. Ridenbaugh, Sr. and Dorothy V. Meyers Ridenbaugh. He is survived by his wife, Darla E. Ridenbaugh of Manchester; sons, Cory, Dru and Cory Ridenbaugh; brother, Kenneth Ridenbaugh; sister, Pamela Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends. No local services. Aaron Wright Stone, Jr. 76 and Alcena May Floyd Stone, 73
Aaron Wright Stone, Jr. age 76, passed away on August 31, 2012 and his loving wife, Alcena May Floyd Stone, age 73, passed away on September 1, 2012. Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron Wright Stone, Sr. and Helen Louise Powers Stone. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Stone Gannon and Karen Stone Clanton and a brother, Charles Jerry Stone. Mrs. Stone was preceded in death her parents, William Nathan Floyd and Ella May Stephens; and four brothers, Nathan Floyd, Jr., Alvin Floyd, John Floyd and James Floyd. Mr. & Mrs. Stone were members of the Main Street Church of Christ in Manchester and were considered by many to be the “perfect couple”. Although their family was their main interest, Mr. Stone enjoyed gardening, fishing, walking and “swinging Danielle in the swing”. Mrs. Stone enjoyed sewing, cooking, and needlework. They are survived by their daughter, Regina Stone Armstrong and her husband, Danny of Manchester, TN and granddaughter, Aaron Danielle Armstrong of Manchester, TN. Mr. Stone is also survived by seven sisters, Nancy Stone Epsy (Leroy), Nobelene Stone Bell (Kenneth), Frances Stone McGoin (Larry), Sandra Stone Stacey, Barbara Stone Watson (Wayne), Diane Stone Parker and Debbie Stone Vaugh; a brother, Thomas Stone (Tina); numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Visitation was on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The Funeral Service followed at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Boyce and Bro. Reardon, Mary Edna, age 80, passed away on September 4, 2012 at her daughter’s home in Morrison, Tennessee with her family by her side. She was born in Westbrook, Maine to her parents, the late Ralph Sanderson and Mable Lampson Sanderson. Mrs. Reardon was also preceded in death by her grandchildren, Mark Reardon, Jr. and Joshua Porter; sisters, Gloria Jackson and Lorraine Sanderson; and brothers, William Sanderson and Ralph “Butch” Sanderson, Jr. She is survived by her son, Mark E. Reardon (Stephanie) of Buxton, Maine; daughters, Gayle A. Rogers (Kim) of Morrison, TN and Sandra L. Maybron Keith Cathey, 45
Maybron Keith Cathey, age 45, of Cowan, Tenn. formerly of Manchester, Tenn. departed this life suddenly on Friday Sept. 7, 2012, at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester. Mr. Cathey was a disabled veteran. He was of the Church of God faith. Mr. Cathey served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved music and was an accomplished guitarist. Mr. Cathey is survived by his wife, Pamela Ramsey Cathey of Cowan, parents; Ray and Vickie Cathey of Manchester, sister, Cheri (Jon) Spears of Manchester, daughter, Charity Cathey, son Jon Paul Cathey, grandson, Adan Ray Cathey, step-son, Josh Bennett and step-granddaughter, Brooklyn Bennett all of Hillsboro. Visitation for Mr. Cathey was held from 5:00-9:00 P.M. Monday Evening in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services. Services for Mr. Cathey were at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday with Pastor Russell Irvin officiating. Memorial services for Mr. Jimmy Wayne Norton, age 54, of Manchester, were conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at New Life Church in Manchester. Mr. Norton passed away on Monday, September 3 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Mr. Norton was born in Manchester, TN, the son of the late Jesse and Alice Rogers Norton. He was owner/operator of Norton Lawn and Landscape in Manchester and also operated Little Duck River Kennel. He enjoyed collecting knives and arrowheads. He coached his daughters’ softball team, The Blue Devils. Jimmy also enjoyed tropical fish. In addition to his parents, Mr. Norton was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Norton. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Cathy Clabough Norton of Manchester; two daughters, Jamie (Kevin) Welsh of Indianapolis, IN and Terri (Michael Partin) Millraney of Manchester; In-laws, Gene and Carolyn Clabough of Manchester; 10 grandchildren, Michael Allen Partin, Jr., Marissa Partin, Jordan Welsh, Kaleigh Partin, Kaylee Millraney, Hannah Bryce, Jordyn Norton, Evan Norton, Kevin Welsh, III, and Kaitlin Welsh; two aunts, Dorthy Lackey and Bobbie Sue Stem; and several cousins. Funeral Services for Mr. Lloyd “Button” Eliga McCormick, age 57, of Manchester will be held Friday, September 7, 2012 at 11 AM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 5 – 8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. McCormick passed away Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Medical Center of Manchester. Mr. McCormick was born May 22, 1955 in Coffee County, Tennessee, the son of the late William Lloyd McCormick and Geraldine Cagle Vincent of Manchester. He was a U S Army Veteran and worked as a Technician. He enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Dawn Marie Martinsen. In addition to his mother, “Button” is survived by his step-father, William W. Vincent of Manchester; one brother, Billy Robert McCormick of Manchester; three sisters, Julie Louise Trammell, Tammy C. Stratton and Gina Lynn Swoape and her husband, Ralph, all of Manchester; seven nieces, Misty D. McCormick of Tullahoma, Jennifer L. Trammell of Florida, Christy L. Trammell of Manchester, Shirley F. Funeral Services for Mr. Horace Willard Reed, age 88, of Bradyville were held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10 AM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Bro. Doyle Sadler and Bro. Joe Herbert Sissom officiating. Burial followed at Gilley Hill Cemetery in Cannon County. Visitation with the family was Friday, September 7, 2012 from 5 – 8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Reed passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Mr. Reed was born March 1, 1924 in Hollow Springs, Tennessee, the son of the late Joe N. and Elsie Sissom Reed. He was a WW II veteran serving as a Seaman First Class in the U. S. Navy. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from MTSC. Mr. Reed worked as a Timekeeper in the Payroll Department of AEDC for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Robert Reed and one sister, Bonnie Ewing. Mr. Reed is survived by his wife, Nila Spry Reed of Bradyville; one son, Terry Reed of Manchester; one daughter, Carolyn Willis and her husband, Jim of Christiana; one sister, Grace Morgan of Greenwood, Indiana and two grandsons, John Willis of Bradyville and James Willis of Christiana.
