BASS, Evelyn “Lyn” Eoff, 62, passed away at her home on Sept. 10, 2012. A Celebration of Life was held at First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14. Minnie Frances Bell Davis, 81
Memorial services for Mrs. Minnie Frances Bell Davis, age 81 of Manchester will be conducted Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 5:00 PM at New Union Church of Christ with Brother Charles Williams officiating. Inurnment will follow services at Farrar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Davis passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was born August 13, 1931 in Coffee County the daughter of the late John Bell and Lyda Peay Bell. In earlier years, she and her husband, Noel Davis managed Kingwood Arms on the McMinnville Hwy for over 20 years. Frances was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed gardening. She attended New Union Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Noel Douglas Davis, a son, David Davis and six brothers and sisters, Earl Bell, William Bell, Cliffton Bell, Ethel Craft, Bessie Vickers and Florence Bishop. Survivors include a son, Doug Davis of Manchester and three grandchildren, Allen Davis of Madison, TN; Beth Davis of Cookeville, TN and Christi Davis also of Cookeville, TN. Ellen Kay Davis, 63
Ellen Kay Davis, age 63, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at her home in Manchester. She was born in Cannon County. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Thomas J. (Tommy) Davis, Sr. of Manchester; two daughters: Kimberly K. (Ken) Jones and Lisa Michelle Davis (Robert Burton III), all of Bradyville; one son: Thomas J. Davis, Jr. (Tracie) of Tullahoma; one brother: Gary Leon (Betty) Tucker of Tullahoma; one sister: Marcilla Ruth Pitcock of Manchester; mother-in-law: Mary M. Davis of Woodbury; two sisters-in-law: Dean Nichols and Judy Powell of Cannon County. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, David Harrison Sadler and Lloyd Louise Sansing; brothers, James Cecil Tucker and Curtis Glenn Tucker and sister, Lloyd Evadene Phillips. She was a member of the Parker Hill Church of Christ and a homemaker. Funeral service will be at Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 officiated by Bro. Joe Sisson. Interment will follow at Gilley Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family was 3-9 p.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers are Hunter Clements, Brad Walden, Jordan and Justin Jones, Tristan Davis, Dalton and Tristian Hendrixson. Gratis Carlisle “Mutt” Meacham, 94
Meacham, Gratis Carlisle “Mutt”, age 94 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Manchester Health Care Center. Mrs. Meacham was born in Boston, Tennessee in Williamson County and was the third child of six children born to her parents, Moses Thomas Carlisle and Lola Thompson Carlisle. She was very mischievous as a child and that is how she earned her nickname “Mutt”. She was very athletic and participated in track and earned the record as highest jumper in the county. She also enjoyed basketball and served as a basketball captain. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper with a company in Nashville. She married Donald N. Meacham in 1956 after he retired from the U.S. Navy. Gratis and Donald owned and operated a family restaurant where she specialized in great casseroles and desserts. Gratis and Donald attended the Red Hill Church of Christ in Manchester for many years. Donald passed away in 1993. Mrs. Meacham was also preceded in death by her sister, Gertie Byrd; and brothers, Garland Carlisle and Gilman Carlisle. She is survived by her daughter, Teri A. Meacham Phillips of Manchester, TN; grandchildren, Christopher Phillips and Courtney Phillips both of Manchester, TN; brother German Carlisle (Sue) of Goodletsville, TN; sister, Gwendolyn Lampley of Franklin, TN; and special friend, Matilda Locke of Manchester, TN. Visitation was on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service was conducted on Tuesday afternoon, September 18, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Brother Chris Boyce officiating. Daniel B. “Boone” Smith, 65
Funeral services for Daniel B. “Boone” Smith, age 65 of Manchester will be conducted at 11:30am, Wednesday, September 19 at the Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Scotty Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation with the family was from 5pm until 9pm, Tuesday at Manchester Funeral Home. Mr. Smith passed away Sunday morning as his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Smith was born in Lynchburg, Tennessee the son of the late Lem and Linda B. Reese Smith. He retired from Carrier in 2005. Mr. Smith was a Christian and attended the Wesley Chapel and Mt. Carmel Churches. Mr. Smith enjoyed auto racing, rabbit hunting, collecting knives and he also made walking sticks for the Boy Scouts. His favorite thing to do was simply working. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Harold Smith and Paul Smith, and by in-laws, Lena & Rusty Clayborn, Billy Clayborn. Mr. Smith is survived by: His wife of 45 years, Mrs. Jo Ann Clayborn Smith of Manchester; 2 sons- Joye (Amy) Smith of Manchester, Troy Smith of Manchester; 1 daughter- Linda (Anthony) Baker of Manchester; 1 sister- Dorothy Bay of Illinois; Brother in Law- Harold (Joyce) Clayborn, Jr.; 2 grandchildren- Caleb and Cade Baker and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Lucille Vaughn, age 96 of Manchester were conducted at 3pm, Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Ray Armstrong and John Hill officiating. Burial followed in the Fredonia Cemetery. Visitation with the family was from 6pm until 8pm, Monday at Manchester Funeral Home. Mrs. Vaughn passed away Saturday at the Medical Center of Manchester. Mrs. Vaughn was born in Clay County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Alto and Nan Stafford Boles. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Vaughn loved to sew, word search, play bingo, was an avid bird watcher and doll collector and enjoyed watching the Tennessee Titans. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lushion Vaughn, by 2 daughters, Nannie Francis Huber and Nancy Avoe Morris, , by 4 sisters, Emma Boles Copeland, Baltie Boles Cargile, Ruth Boles Montgomery and Fannie Boles Mathis, by 2 brothers, Sam and Willie Boles and by 3 grandchildren, Gladys A. Monroe, Lisa Jensen and Kevin Vaughn. Mrs. Vaughn is survived by: 2 daughters- Lorell Vaughn (Ray) Reeves of Normandy, Susie Vaughn (David) Nelson of Flat Creek; 2 sons, David (Phyllis) Vaughn of Tullahoma, Benny (Lee) Vaughn of Tullahoma; 27 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren. Ruby Joyce Cobb McCloud Woosley, 72
Ruby Joyce Cobb McCloud Woosley, age 72, of Manchester, Tenn. departed this life and into the arms of Jesus on “His Day,” Sunday, September 9, 2012. Ms. Woosley was born in White Bluff, Tenn. on July 3, 1940 to the late Claude Cobb and Laura Krantz-Cobb-Tant. Ms. Woosley was a waitress for many years in the Nashville area working in coffee shops making little pay and working long hours doing the best she could with what little she had. She worked in business office supplies for a number of years and went on to work in a print shop for twenty-five years in the Huntsville, Ala. area. She was past owner/operator of Engravers 2 in Decherd, Tenn. for many years. She has worked for Wal-mart, MCCA and Goodwill in Tullahoma. She lived a simple life and was always willing to help those in need because she understood what it was like to be in that position. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Woosley. brothers; Bobby, Jack and Johnny Cobb and one sister, Andrea Olivia Tant. She is survived by her children; Melissa Thompson, Athens, Ala., Dena Seals, of Morristown, Tenn. sons; Eugene McCloud, Jr. also of Morristown, Tenn., Dennis McCloud of Vicksburg, Miss. brothers; Claude Cobb, Jr., of Dorr, Michigan, Joe Cobb of Wartrace, Tenn., Larry Tant of Winchester, Tenn., David Tant, Jr., of Parish, New York, sisters; Betty Naylor of Manteca, Cal., Margaret Gresham of Brooklyn, Mich., Linda King of Winchester, Tenn., Nellie Faye Hamblin of Adrian, Mich.
