United Regional Medical Center is excited to bring new technology to the residents in Manchester. They are now among the visionaries in health care providing an advanced, minimally invasive surgery approach called LESS Surgery. This form of laparoscopic surgery which URMC offers, allows a surgeon to perform an entire operation with one tiny incision made through a patient’s navel (belly button). A traditional laparoscopic surgical procedure requires entry into a patient’s navel as well as 3-5 additional incisions along a patient’s abdomen. However, a Single-Port (LESS) surgery requires 1, and only 1, entry point which then results in better recovery time as well as minimal to no visible scarring. This procedure can be used for a variety of abdominal surgeries including gallbladder removals, hysterectomies, and urinary tract reconstructions.
Dr. Good, Manchester’s newest gynecologist with over 20 years of experience, performed URMC’s first Less Surgery procedure on September 12th of this year. Dr. Good, with his vast knowledge and great deal of experience (over 300 procedures) in this field, brings more options for patients within our community. Dr. Good is dedicated to all of his patients and when asked how he feels in regards to this advanced technology being used in Manchester he stated, “This technology allows Manchester to offer competitive procedures alongside the surrounding communities and offers me the remarkable ability to hide scars so that no one can even tell, unless you show them.”
While this surgery can offer extensive benefits to patients, due to surgical requirements, not all patients will qualify as candidates. To find out if you qualify, speak with your physician today or call URMC at 728-3586. United Regional Medical Center is confident that this advanced technology will allow patients to enjoy the benefits of surgery without extensive physical and mental scarring.
