A Manchester man has been arrested on charges of deceptive business practices.
Shannon Dean Reek, 40, of Winnie Boyton Road, was arrested last Tuesday on the charges and released from jail after posting a $500 bond.
According to warrants obtained by Manchester police officer Derek Jones, Reek approached an 85-year-old resident of Doak Road in Manchester and offered to seal his driveway for a cost of $150 to $200.
Reek along with four other individuals completed sealing the driveway in about an hour. Reek told the Doak Road resident that he had to use more sealant than expected and that the cost was $1,100. The victim told Reek that he did not have that much money. The man wrote Reek a check for $550 as well as paying an additional $100 in cash.
Another resident of Doak Road provided Jones a description of a pickup truck used by Reek. That description along with a description provided to the officer by the victim led to the arrest of Reek on the charges.
Reek is to appear in Coffee County General Sessions Court Oct 16.
