Manchester’s annual Christmas parade is expected to draw a crowd in the thousands tonight.
Approximately 80 entries are scheduled to crawl down U.S. Highway 41 and turn onto N. Spring St. to pass in front of the Coffee County Courthouse. The parade begins at 7 p.m.
Traffic will be snarled and slow between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m., said Manchester Police Chief Mark Yother
“Highway 55 and 41 will be tough to deal with,” said Yother. “They will start lining up at 6 p.m. so I’d say from 5:30 until about 8:30 Waite St. and side streets between 41 and 55 will be tough to maneuver. We will have officers on every intersection.”
Highway 41 North will be shut down for thru traffic during the parade. The southbound lanes will remain open but motorists are cautioned to drive slow.
