Bradford Phillip “Brad” Walden, 25

Funeral services for Bradford Phillip “Brad” Walden, age 25, of Tullahoma were conducted Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother William Pritchett officiating.  Burial followed at Ragsdale Cemetery.  Visitation was held Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.  Brad passed away Wednesday morning at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma. He was born August 13, 1987 in Coffee County, TN the son of Edgar Levoyd Walden and Tracie Topinka Walden Davis.  He graduated from Coffee County Central High School in 2005 and then attended and graduated from The Cleveland State Community College Police Academy in Cleveland, TN in 2006.  Brad enjoyed target practice with his guns as well as collecting knives.  He also enjoyed watching T.V. and spending time with his many friends.  He attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Tullahoma. Brad is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Phillip and Pearl Walden; his maternal grandfather, Bob Topinka and his step-grandmother, Ellen Davis. Survivors include his father, Edgar Walden and wife, Eve of Manchester; mother, Tracie Davis and husband, Thomas of Tullahoma; sister, Michelle Davis of Tullahoma; step-sister, Michelle DeVries of Michigan City, IN; maternal grandmother, Charlynn McCullough and special friend, Homer Davila of Hillsboro; and step-grandfather, Tommy Davis of Manchester; a special friend, Kourtney Marie Bryant of Bluffton, IN and numerous special aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends. Watkins, Donna Jean, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Harton Regional Medical Center at the age of 65. Jeannette Winton Patton, 64

Funeral services for Mrs. Jeannette Winton Patton, age 64 of Manchester were conducted Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ricky Smith officiating. Burial followed at Lynch Cemetery.  Visitation was Wednesday, December 12  from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  Mrs. Patton passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Mrs. Patton was born August 28, 1948 in Manchester, Tennessee the daughter of the late James Gilbert and Dollie Estelle Swanger Winton.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, cooking and playing with her cats and dogs.  She helped with the family logging and farming operations and “was her husband and son’s favorite skidder driver”.  She was a member of Wesley’s Chapel Methodist Church. Mrs. Patton is survived by her loving husband, Howard Douglas Patton of Manchester; one son, Mark David Patton and his wife, Sheila of of Manchester; one daughter, Connie Sue Finney and her husband, Dewayne of Manchester; one brother, Carl Wayne Winton of Murfreesboro and many other loving friends and family. Gary S. Layne, 47

LAYNE, Gary S, 47, of Hillsboro, passed away on Sunday Dec. 2, 2012 at his home following an illness. Mr. Layne, worked as a heating and air technician and was formerly an employee of Yates Services. Mr. Layne also was a musician that played with a local band and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He was born on June 24, 1965 to Sherman Layne of Pelham and the late Particia Layne Burgess of Beechgrove. He is survived also by his grandmother, Edith Layne of Pelham, one sister, Sharon Layne Hunt of Tullahoma and his daughter Amber Layne of Manchester. A memorial celebration of Mr. Layne’s life will be held at a later date to be announced.

Harris, 66

Memorial services for Mrs. Eulalia Maria Harris, age 66, of Manchester, were conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Manchester.  Mrs. Harris passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Mrs. Harris was born in San Jose, CA, the daughter of the late Juan Rodriguez and Mary Jaurique Rodriguez, who survives.  She was a property manager for ATA and was of the Catholic faith.  She was loved by all, and in return, loved everyone. In addition to her mother, she is also survived by her husband, Willie Harris, of Manchester; one son, Willie Harris, III, of Manchester; two daughters, Ruby (David) Lara and Rose Marie (David) Turner, both of Jacksonville, FL; eight brothers; four sisters; eight grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Jesse Paul Shelton, age 96, of Jacksonville, NC, formerly of Manchester, were conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ronald Longmire and Bro. Gary Bell officiating.  Burial followed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors.  Visitation with the Shelton family was from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday, December 14 at the funeral home.  Mr. Shelton passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Premier Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, NC. Mr. Shelton was born in Rutherford County, TN, the son of the late Waistal Watson and Annie Dera Oren Shelton.  He was a veteran of WWII, having honorably served in the U.S. Army.  He was a member of the Manchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shelton was also preceded in death by his wife, Freddie Mae Wilhelm Shelton; four sisters, Katie Pearl Welch, Maggie Ruth Shelton, Lucille Novello, and Rena Shores; two brothers, his twin, Tommy Hall Shelton and Wayne Shelton. Mr. Shelton is survived by his daughter, Paula (Otto) Daly of Jacksonville, NC; one son, Fred Shelton of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Otto (Casey) Daly, IV of Boise, ID, Dr. William (Lani) Daly of Jacksonville, NC, Elizabeth (Christopher) Severt of Wilmington, NC, and Dr. Karen (David) Seymore of Morehead City, NC; five great grandchildren, Zoe Marie Daly, Oliver Michael Daly, Keani Anderson, Jordan LaFountain, and Davin Joe Seymore; and three brothers, William “Billy” Shelton, Kendall Shelton, and James O. Pewitt, Jr., 28

PEWITT, H.  Adam, Jr., age 28 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on December 14, 2012. Adam became a Police Officer with the Murfreesboro Police Department in 2008 and was a United States Marine Veteran from 2002 until 2006, serving one tour of duty in Iraq. Adam earned his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Motlow State Community College and was continuing his education for his Bachelor’s Degree. He will be fondly remembered as a devoted father, loving husband, son, brother, grandson and nephew who had worked hard to fulfill his dream of becoming a Police Officer to protect and serve other people. He enjoyed singing, making people laugh and attending the New Hope Baptist Church in Manchester. Adam is survived by his loving wife, Sarah B. Myra “Betsy”  Smith Coggins, 78

Myra “Betsy” Smith Coggins born 09/27/1934 passed to her Heavenly Home Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 3:20 p.m. EST. She was born in Lenoir City, Tennessee and has lived in the Claxton community since 1968 where she raised 3 children Steven “Stevie” Coggins of Oak Ridge, TN, Andrew “Andy” Coggins (married to Deborah Coggins) of Claxton, TN and Melissa “Missi” Coggins Pierce (married to Kirk Pierce) of Manchester, TN with her late husband, William “Larry” Coggins who passed to his Heavenly Home 01/11/1999. She is preceded in death by her parents Hobart Alexander Smith of Jonesorough, TN and Margarete Emmaline Cornett Smith of Philladelphia, TN. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kyle Smith.  Her sister Joyce Smith Dunblazier resides in Galesburg, Illinois. She has 3 grandchildren whom she loved dearly;  Andrew “AJ” Coggins (married to Mandy Coggins) and Ashley Coggins both of Claxton and Samantha Pierce of Manchester, TN. She has 1 great grandson, Anton Coggins. Myra “Betsy” served both her church and community in various roles since 1968.  She is loved by many a former student at Claxton Elementary where she subbed.  She volunteered at Methodist Medical Center.  She was very active with the Claxton Optomist serving on many boards for football, cheerleading, baseball and softball.  She had a great love for singing and worshipping her Lord and Savior.  Among the many roles she played at Christus Victor her most precious memories come from serving the Lord with her voice in the choir. Crunk, Charles L. of Normandy, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 7th, 2012 at his residence at the age of 89. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 12th at 11:00am in the Kilgore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Bethany Cemetery in Normandy. Timothy Austin Caldwell, 33

Caldwell, Timothy Austin, of Shelbyville, passed this life on Sunday, December 9th, 2012, at Heritage Medical Center at the age of 33. Graveside services were Saturday at Melson Cemetery located in Lincoln County.

Rooker, 92

Cornelia Mae Rooker, age 92, of Murfreesboro died Wednesday, December 12, 2012. She was a native of Coffee County and the daughter of the late Joshua Bell and Lula Pearl McCullough Fletcher. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Rooker and daughter, Marilyn Kaye Rooker and stepson, Oley Eldon Rooker, brothers, J.B. Fletcher, Jr. and Johnson Fletcher. Funeral service was 11:00am Saturday at Franklin Road Baptist Church. Dr. Mike Norris will officiate. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Whitesell, sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Kelso Simmons of Manchester, granddaughter, Courtney Davis of Manchester, and great grandchildren, McKenzie, Josie, and Samuel Watson. Mrs. Rooker was a member of Franklin Road Baptist Church and a Supervisor at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center until her retirement. Memorials may be made to Franklin Road Baptist Church in her memory. Visitation was from 4:00 until 8:00pm Friday at Franklin Road Baptist Church.

Agnes Bloodworth Royster, 79

ROYSTER, Agnes Bloodworth, age 79 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on December 10, 2012 at the McArthur Manor in Manchester. She was a retired Teacher’s Aide at Westwood Elementary School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manchester. She was born in Cedar Hill, TN to her parents, the late Sam Bloodworth and Ruth Davis Bloodworth and was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Royster in 2009; and brothers, Hubert Holman, John Bloodworth and Robert Bloodworth. Mrs. Royster is survived by her son, Billy E. “Ron” Royster and his wife Anita of Manchester, TN; daughter, Jane Royster of Manchester, TN; two grandchildren, Karla Royster and Sam Royster both of Manchester, TN; and a host of friends. AMBURGEY, Gordon Moore “Tag”, age 86, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 at his home in Manchester, Tennessee with his loving family by his side. Mr. Amburgey was a retired Pharmacist and owner of Amburgey’s Pharmacy in Manchester. He was also a World War II Navy Submarine Veteran and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manchester. He was born in Ashland, Kentucky to his parents, the late Lawrence M. Amburgey and Vera E. Moore Amburgey and was also preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Amburgey. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth Burton Amburgey of Manchester, TN; daughter, Sheri Hyatt of Rockvale, TN; son, Mike Amburgey of Manchester, TN; two grandchildren, Josh Woolum of Murfreesboro, TN and Tanner Hyatt of Rockvale, TN; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Woolum and Jaydin Woolum both of Murfreesboro, TN; and a host of friends. She was born January 16, 1947 in McMinnville, TN, the daughter of the late William Vernon and Margaret Miller Yeager.  Mrs. Jones retired from Batesville Casket.  She was a member of Forest Mill Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. Funeral services for Mr. Roy George Cox Jr., age 71, of Manchester, TN were held Friday, November 30, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Case officiating. Burial followed at Forest Mill Cemetery. Visitation with the family was Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM. Mr. Cox passed away Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Medical Center of Manchester. Mr. Cox was born November 1, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Roy G. Cox Sr. and Marion Hinderliter Cox. He was a U. S. Navy veteran. He was a Firefighter for the City of Dearborn, Michigan. After retiring in 1994, he and his wife of 47 years, Jennie Krug Cox relocated to his Grandfather’s property in Coffee County, Tennessee. Mr. Cox was a loving father who instilled a good work ethic in his children and always taught them to make the right choices. He was a member of the Forest Mill United Methodist Church, the American Legion and a Mason, Lodge #152 in Redford, Michigan. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and belonged to the Harley Owners Group and the Knights of the Road Motorcycle Club. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their Motor Home and spending the winters in Florida. He was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association. He enjoyed working at home on his family farm and working with his hands. He was well known in the community serving as a caretaker for the Forest Mill Cemetery. In addition to his loving wife, Jennie Cox of Manchester, he is survived by two sons: Roy Cox III and his wife Gloria of Libertyville, Illinois and Randall Cox and his wife, Darla Jo of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter, Tracy Cox of Royal Oak, Michigan; one sister, Sharron Gregory and her husband, Wayne of Detroit, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Roy Cox IV, Adam Cox, Mitchell Cox, Ava Cox, Samantha Cox, Lorrin Cox, Tanner Cox and Keegan Cox and his beloved dog and companion, Shadow.
