Manchester police are investigating the abduction and assault of a Tullahoma woman early New Year’s Day.

Investigator Billy Butler

According to Manchester chief investigator Billy Butler, around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday a woman, whose identity was not released, was standing near an abandoned gas station on Hillsboro Boulevard in Manchester when she was approached by a man who  forced her into a vehicle and drove away.

“He took her to another location and assaulted her,” Butler said.

After physically assaulting and robbing the woman the man then drove to the Dossett Apartments in Tullahoma.

“There she was able to get away,” Butler said.

Tullahoma police officers then spotted her in the area and transported her to Harton Regional Medical Center where she underwent treatment for her injuries.

According to the officer, the man robbed the woman of personal items including rings and credit cards.

Butler was working with Tullahoma police Tuesday searching for the abductor.
