United Regional Medical Center each year makes an effort to help Coffee County Residents live Healthier Lives. This can be seen through the URMC Annual Health Fair held during the fall of each year. However, in 2012 United Regional Medical Center decided to go beyond their traditional efforts in order to help Manchester and surrounding counties with a demographic in dire need: their children. United Regional Medical Center CEO Martha McCormick Logan states: “Children are the key to the future and in order to make a healthier community we must first start by making healthier children.” With this in mind, United Regional Medical Center hosted their very first “Here, for You” Free Kid’s Holiday Safety Event on Saturday December 15th 2012 at the Asbury Community Center. This event brought local organizations together such as the Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department, Coffee County Emergency Rescue Squad, Thunder Radio, Rachel Nichole Photography, Coffee County Children’s Advocacy Center, as well as staff and volunteers from United Regional Medical Center who generously gave of their time in order to teach children about emergency safety, healthy food choices, hygiene, and exercise. At this event, children were also visited by Santa Claus and his Elves who took free pictures and brought many smiles to all of the families who attended this event. CEO Logan also cheerfully said “This is just the first of many United Regional Medical Center outreach events. We love Manchester and all of its surrounding communities so much that we feel it is our responsibility to help make it a healthier and safer place for our children.”
