After three heartbreaking losses by a total of five points at the Smoky Mountain Classic, the Coffee County Central Lady Raiders won in a big way tonight (Friday) with a 52-24 blowout against Warren County. The Red Raiders experienced their own heartbreak, however, with a 46-45 loss in the final three seconds of the boys’ game. It was the District 6-AAA opener for both teams.
Scoring for the Coffee County Lady Raiders were Ginny Clayborne (19), Alaina Lusk (14), Ta’Neesa Buchanan (10), Michaela Gregory (5), and Katie Reid (4). Top scorers for the Lady Pioneers were Bri Melton (8), Camerie Martin (4), and Megan Dishman (4).
In the boy’s game Lake Elam and Lance Crismond were top scorers, each with 12, followed by
Lucas Crismond (10), Anthony Jackson (6), Austin Baugh (3), and Peyton Talley (2). Leading scorers for Warren County were Tucker Smith (17) and Kendell Rutledge (14).
CHS plays at home Monday against Cannon County.
