Child in Amber Alert found near Manchester Wednesday

A 2-year-old  boy from Houston County is safe and his father is in custody following a Tennessee statewide Amber Alert on Wednesday.

According to Coffee County Sheriff Steve Graves, three truck drivers spotted the car described in the Amber Alert on Interstate 24 near Manchester and boxed it in, forcing the car the stop. No other details on the arrest have been released.

The boy’s father, Austin Whitehead, 23, had allegedly made threats of suicide and was considered a possible danger to others. He also faced other warrants for his arrest, according to police.
