Funeral services for Mrs. Debbie “Moe” Breeden, age 54, of Manchester, were conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Louis Johnson and Bro. David Stockton officiating. Burial followed in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family was from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Saturday, January 19 at the funeral home. Moe passed away on Thursday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer. Moe was born in Fayetteville, TN. She was a graduate of Fayetteville Central High School, Motlow State Community College and received her Bachelor of Science degree from MTSU. She was employed as a Database Administrator for ATA at Arnold Air Force Base for over 25 years. She attended Bell Springs United Methodist Church in the Noah Community. Moe loved all animals, especially her dogs and cat. She loved all sports, especially women’s sports, including softball and basketball. She loved traveling with her husband in sports at Coffee County, Riverdale, and MTSU, where he coached football and softball, and where so many of her cherished friendships began. She was definitely his number ONE fan and supporter. She also loved the Peanuts cartoon characters, lighthouses, and beach trips with her girlfriends. Moe is survived by her loving husband, Jeff Breeden, of Manchester; her two dogs, Chance and Jake and cat, Forrest; her parents, Bradley and Madge Brake of Manchester; sister, Carol (Charlie) Cox of Manchester; three nieces, Liz (Tony) Lockhart of Cane Ridge, TN, Stephanie Hudgens and Shaina Cox, both of Manchester, and a host of special friends throughout middle Tennessee. Funeral services for Mrs. Emogene A. Burgess, age 85 of Beechgrove were conducted Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Burial followed at HooDoo Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, January 18, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Burgess passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at United Regional Medical Center in Manchester. She was born February 23, 1927 in Coffee County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late M.H. “Houston” Alford and Edith Perry Alford. In earlier years, Mrs. Burgess was employed as a school teacher with the Coffee County School System, teaching first grade thru eighth grades. She was later employed with Bellsouth telephone for many years. Mrs. Burgess loved the outdoors, nature, fishing and hunting. In her later years, she enjoyed farming and taking care of animals. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burgess is preceded in death by two brothers, Merle Alford and Jesse Lee “Jack” Alford. Three sisters, Lois Rayburn, Orene Hockett and infant baby sister. Survivors include a son, Charles L. “Toby” Burgess and fiance’, Deborah of Beechgrove, TN ; three grandchildren, Houston Burgess; Caleb Burgess; and Jasmine C. January. In addition to his mother, Mr. Crawford was also preceded in death by a sister, Patty Crawford. He is survived by his wife, Connie Crawford; one son, Dustin Johnson; one daughter, Ashlyn Crawford; two grandchildren, Rylan Matthew Johnson and Jorja Anna-Leigh Johnson. Mr. Crawford is also survived by his step-mother, Carolyn Crawford; one brother, Jimmy Crawford, and two sisters, Jan Henley and Terri Baumstein. The celebration of Mary Elizabeth Hannah’s life, age 83, of Manchester, will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mrs. Hannah passed away at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville on Saturday, January 19, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hannah was born in Chattanooga, the daughter of the late James Yancey and Bessie Lee Roberts White. She graduated from Central High School in Manchester. She owned and operated the 41 Drive-In restaurant from 1965-1991. In earlier years, she worked at Genesco in Tullahoma. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Manchester. She especially loved traveling with the Wesley Wanderers, singing in the church choir, and ringing bells with the Ding-a-Lings. She was a founding member of Wesley Heights Methodist Church in Tullahoma. Her passions were flowers, shopping, watching the Braves, cooking, baking, and visiting the beach. She cherished spending time with her daughters, son-in-laws, grandsons, and all the many friendships she built throughout her life. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hannah was also preceded in death by three brothers, Haskel, Alfred, and Raymond White. She is survived by her three daughters, Brenda (Dennis) Bryan of Manchester, Jan (Steve) Hammonds of Huntsville, AL, and Mindy (Darren) Acklen of Hillsboro; and two grandchildren, Jon and Justin “Fuzz” Bryan. Larry Lewis Haynes, 66
Mr. Larry Lewis Haynes age 66 of Pelham, Tennessee passed away at his home Friday morning, Jan. 18, 2013, with his family by his bedside. Larry worked in road construction most of his adult life, he was a farmer, had worked as a policeman for the Town of Monteagle, had served as a constable, and was a volunteer fireman in Pelham. Larry was of the Methodist faith, loved spending time with his family and friends, hunting and fishing. Larry was born in Pelham on September 25, 1946, a son of the late George Holbert Haynes and Mary M. Kennedy Haynes and he was preceded in death by his brothers, Printus, George, Charles and John Haynes; father-in-law, Paul Haynes. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Martha Haynes; daughters, Stephanie and her husband, Jimmy Weddington of Lynchburg, Joyce Parks, Doris and her husband, Randy Miller; son Gerrial and his wife, Danielle Parks of Pelham; brother, Jim and his wife, Juanita Haynes of Winchester; sister, Francis and her husband, Buford Woosley of Tullahoma; mother-in-law, Ophelia Haynes of Tracy City; grandchildren, Nathan Haynes and Zach Weddington of Lynchburg, Dawn and John Dishroon, Josh and Jonathan Miller, Emily, Gerrial, Jr., Julie and Heavenee Parks all of Pelham; great-granddaughter, Kailee Rayne Dishroon of Pelham; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Nancy S. Houser, age 93 of Morrison, Tennessee passed from this life Friday, January 18, 2013 at NHC Health Care, McMinnville, Tennessee. Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Mrs. Houser was born February 11, 1919 in Middletown, New York the daughter of the late John D. Stivers and Louise Greene Stivers. Her father was a New York State Senator for many years as well as owner and operator of the Middletown Times Herald newspaper. Mrs. Houser was a retired Federal Civil Service worker. She served in this capacity for thirty-seven years. Mrs. Houser was an avid reader and also enjoyed crocheting and bird watching. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Houser was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Louise Stivers Spar and one brother, Moses Dunning Stivers. Mrs. Houser is survived by one son, March H. Houser and his wife, Carol A. Houser of Morrison; two grandchildren, Christine L. Allen and husband Charles Allen, Morrison, TN, Eric D. Rikio Johnson entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 13, 2012. He was a 1978 graduate of Tullahoma High School and before becoming disabled, had worked at Rubbermaid-Newell as a machine mechanic for 24 years. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and bowler, having bowled on several leagues. He was born on January 14, 1960 to the late Howard A. “Buddy” Johnson and Alberta Johnson of Tullahoma. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert Poff of Manchester, TN and hazel Vandygriff (Clifton) of Summitville, TN and William O. and Mozella Johnson of Tullahoma, TN. In addition to his mother, he is survived by sister, Rene Pearce of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, devoted niece, Danielle Bachman (Josh) of Decherd, TN., loving nephew, Damien Morrison of Murfreesboro, TN., and the love of his life for the past 4 years, his great niece, Jenna Noelle Bachman, whom he lovingly called “Leon”.
He is also survived by his favorite aunt, Jody (Dale) Daniel of Tullahoma, aunt, Martha Brown of Woodbridge, VA, Sue (Terry) Pendergraff, of Warner-Robbins, GA., uncle, Jerry O. Johnson of Tullahoma and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. It was Mr. Johnson’s wishes to be cremated and no services will be scheduled. McCORMICK, Doris Jean Sanders, age 71 of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on January 17, 2013 at the Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Union Church of Christ. Doris was born in Florala, Alabama to her parents, the late Allen Monroe Sanders and Gussie Mae Feaster Sanders. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Nell Glasscock, Dorothy Mayton and Eva McClamma; two brothers, John Sanders and Ed Sanders; and son-in-law, Mike Robison. Doris grew up in Andalushia, AL and traveled extensively with her former husband who was in the military. She will be fondly remembered as a very caring and devoted mother and grandmother with a smile that will never be forgotten. Doris is survived by her daughters, Donna J. Toney and her husband Mike of Bossier City, LA and Tina M. Brandon and her husband Dale of Manchester, TN; son, Steven J. McCormick of Manchester, TN; two brothers, June Sanders and Dick Sanders; three grandchildren, Michael Robison (Crystal), Kristin Olivia Brandon and Julie Marie Brandon all of Manchester, TN; niece, Jo Ann McIntosh of Columus, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Moreland was born in Boise, Idaho the son of Jimmie D. Moreland and Juanita Clark Moreland of Manchester who survive. He loved driving trucks and the art of Taxidermy. Christopher was raised in Idaho and had an immense love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He was a proud father and loved his family. Mr. Moreland was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney D. Moreland. Mr. Rice was born in Ripley, TN to the late Jesse Clinton Rice and Viola Hancock Rice and resident of Murfreesboro before moving to Fayetteville. He was a veteran of the US Navy and Army, a member of Beechgrove Cumberland Presbyterian Church, attended Gum Springs Baptist Church in Flintville and past Superintendent with Stewart Air Base. Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie F. Rice; granddaughters, Melissa Ashby and Leslie Rice; great grandsons, Treet Ashby and Tyler Allen Short. Mrs. Wiser passed away Saturday evening at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Wiser was born in Beech Grove, TN, the daughter of the late Odie and Annie Lee Toliver West. She was a cook at AEDC before she retired to become a homemaker and take care of her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wiser was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Austin Wiser, who passed in 1967; her step-father, Jesse Ferrell; and three children, Jimmy, Meachie, and Tommy. She is survived by four children, Bobbie (Tommy) Cox, Terry Wiser (Michelle Foster), Donnie (Cindy) Wiser, and Bridgette (Glen Espy) Wiser; 14 grandchildren, Tonda, Audra, Casandra, Angie, Alan, Dickie, Greg, Lee Ann, Jessie, Mitchell, Chris, Brad, Aderian, and Ticia; 21 great grandchildren, Briley, Kaden, Linley, Nick, Katlynn, Heather, Faith, Grace, Brittany, Amanda, Dylan, Tristan, Tyler, Kaydence, Caison, Jaxton, Braden, Alexis, Kaelix, Quinton, and Harley; 7 great, great grandchildren; 1 great, great, great grandchild on the way, Nova; and 4 granddogs, Leo, Tiny, Andy, and Snowball. Also considered family, were her “adopted” son and granddaughter, Roger Chisam and “Lil” Cindy Setser. The family would also like to acknowledge some of the many, many friends who have touched Ruth’s life, to include Diane Brown, Doris Brown, Kenneth Vasser, Ralph Duke, Emogene Burgess, Eleanor Arnold, Maney and Paul Lowery, and Darrell Wray.
