School board approves Coffee County Middle School volleyball team

With a vote of 4-0 at a special-called meeting Monday the Coffee County School Board voted to allow the Coffee County Middle School athletic program to start a volleyball program.

The board also voted to allow $3,500 for program start-up money. The addition leaves CCMS two athletic programs shy of carrying the same amount as Central High School.

Coffee County Middle School athletic director Kyle Harris and principal Kim Aaron made a presentation to the board for the program late last year but officially requested funding Monday. Harris’ request was admittedly scaled back from his original estimate of $7,000 because the program will play its matches at Central High School until the new middle school is constructed, avoiding the added cost of installing match-quality nets at the current school.
