CHS sweeps Smyrna at home

Both the CHS boys and girls basketball squads beat Smyrna High School Monday at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gym. The Lady Raiders defeated Smyrna 53-42, and the Red Raiders beat the Bulldogs 40-34.

Leading the charge for the boys was Lance Crismond with 18 points and Lucas Crismond with 12. For the girls Ginny Clayborne (19) and Michaela Gregory (11) were top scorers.

The non-district victories raise the Lady Raiders’ season record to 14-12 (5-2 District 6-AAA) and the Red Raiders’ to 10-15 (1-6 district).

Central High School hosts White County Friday in the final games of the regular season. In their earlier meetings at White County the Warriors defeated the Red Raiders 80-67 and the Lady Raiders beat the Warriorettes 51-36.

During halftime of Friday’s girls’ game the 1992-93 Lady Raiders will be recognized on the 20th anniversary of their state basketball championship.

Tip off for the girls game is at 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow at around 7:30.
