Lady Raiders season ends with last-second loss

The Coffee County Central High School Lady Raiders season ended Friday night with a devastating 39-37 loss to McMinn County in the first round of the region basketball tournament.

seconds to go and Coffee County inbounding the ball. Katie Reid’s shot at the goal missed, McMinn County got the rebound, and seconds later Lady Cherokee KeKe Smith scored the winning lay up as time expired.

Ginny Clayborne led the Lady Raiders in scoring with 16. Also contributing points were Alaina Lusk (10), Reid (6) and Michaela Gregory (5). Reid led the team in assists with four and, along with Clayborne, in rebounds with six. Clayborne had three blocked shots.

The Lady Raiders finish the season at 15-15.
