Heavy rains that started Friday across Middle Tennessee dumped nearly three inches of rain on the Manchester area.
According to a TVA rain gauge in Manchester, two inches of rain fell over Friday and Saturday with the heaviest amount – 1.51 inches – falling on Saturday. Sunday’s totals brought the total amount rainfall to 2.75 inches for the area. Coffee County was placed under a flash flood warning Sunday morning after a night of heavy rains and storms. Coffee County was also placed under a severe thunderstorm warning early Sunday.
“[The] creeks and rivers are up,” Allen Lendley with Coffee County Emergency Management said Sunday morning. “There are a few roads that have some standing water but it should start receding. [The] rain is beginning to move out of the area.”
