Floyd stepping down as CHS softball coach

By Jake Kreulen, sports writer After 20 years of coaching, the past 12 years as a head coach, and 351 victories, Coffee County’s Terry Floyd is going to start spending a lot more time with his family. Floyd announced Wednesday he is stepping down as head coach of the Lady Raider softball program. “I’ve been doing this a long time, and I have enjoyed every bit of it,” Floyd said.

    By Jake Kreulen, sports writer After a stellar season in which she picked up her 1,000th career strikeout, Coffee County Central senior pitcher Brianna Jones has been named Middle Tennessee’s AAA Miss Softball by the Tennessee Softball Coaches Association. Jones shut down opposing bats throughout the season, allowing just seven earned runs all season as she went 24-4 for the Lady Raiders. Coffee County finished the season with a 30-8-1

    Coffee County Central track athletes Kani Johnson and Taylor DeBerry did not earn a spot on the podium in their hurdles events last week, but they represented the Red Raiders well at the 2015 Spring Fling meet on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.
