An arrest has been made in the November slaying of a Manchester man.

Troy Lynn King, 41, was recently arrested and charged with first-degree murder, felony murder and theft over $1,000 in the murder of Thomas Colucci, 41.

Colucci was found shot dead in his Maple Springs Road residence on the morning of Nov. 13, 2012, after his girlfriend Connie King ran to the roadway asking for the help of passers-by.

At the time she stated that someone broke into the residence and shot Colucci and beat her up. They then left in the dead man’s vehicle, which was later found in Manchester near United Regional Medical Center.

According to Coffee County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Frank Watkins, investigators developed information that pointed to King as the person allegedly committing the slaying.

“Investigators from the sheriff’s department and the U.S. Marshal’s Service from Chattanooga and San Diego, Calif., developed leads that he had moved to the San Diego area,” Watkins said during a press conference Monday afternoon at the Coffee County Jail. “He was arrested March 6 in Imperial Beach, Calif., without incident.”

Watkins stated that King is currently fighting extradition back to Coffee County. Asked how long the process would take to return him to face charges,  Watkins said 30 to 90 days.

Coffee County District Attorney Mickey Layne explained the extradition process. “We will draw up documents requesting

Governor Bill Haslam to make the request to California,” Layne said. “The governor will then refer it to his legal counsel. Then the governor will sign it and send it to California Governor Jerry Brown.”

Layne said once Brown reviews it and his counsel determines all paperwork is in order, then King will be ordered returned to Tennessee and Manchester.

According to Watkins, King was arrested in the 1990s on first-degree murder charges in Grundy County, but that charge was reduced to second-degree murder.

Colucci was engaged to Connie King, Troy King’s estranged wife, according to investigators.

The investigation into the killing is continuing and an additional arrest is expected.
