CHS golfers dominate at Cookeville

milton stanley bylineThe Coffee County Central High School boys golf team won the Early Bird Invitational tournament in Cookeville Monday with a new school-record round of 295.

The Red Raiders came out on top against eleven other teams, including Cookeville, Warren County, and Walker Valley.

Coffee County’s Andy Stout won the individual title with a school-record 66 on the par-70 18 holes. Team mates Matt Johnson fired a 2-over-par 72, Kyle Johnson had a 3-over 73, and Jacob Prater shot an 84. So far this year the boys have compiled a 25-2 team record.

The CHS girls finished third overall, and their record is now 13-3. Among the Lady Raiders, Hollee Sadler finished fourth individually with a 79, and Megan Kriz shot 85.

Raiders coach Mike Ray called the strong showings “milestones” for CHS golf and called the boys’ performance “a huge win.”
