CHS sweeps Grundy County by wide margins

Coffee County Central High School swept Grundy County High School in Coalmont Tuesday night as the boys won 63-34 and the girls triumphed 58-39.

their bench in the fourth quarter.  Scoring for CHS were Lance Crismond (18), Lucas Crismond (12), Brock Ivey-Bodman (9), Anthony Jackson (6), Addison Carter (6), J.P. Duncan (5), David Keith (5), and Kohl Young (2).

After losing their district opener Friday at Warren County the Red Raiders have now won their last two games to bring their overall record to 7-10 (0-1, District 6-AAA). The Grundy County boys’ record falls to 2-10.

In their contest the Lady Raiders took the lead on a layup from the opening tip and went on to maintain a 20-point lead throughout the second half. Scoring for Coffee County were Ginny Clayborne (16), Alaina Lusk (16),  Katie Reid (7), Ta’Neesa Buchanan (4), Michaela Gregory (4), Cameron Davis (3), Missy Jones (2), Sara Brown (2), Izzy Huddleston (2), and Sydney Pearson (1).

The Lady Raiders’ win comes after a 41-38 loss to Cannon County at home on Monday.  With Tuesday’s victory the CHS girls’ record now stands at 8-10 overall (1-0 in the district). Grundy County falls to 3-13.

Both Coffee County teams resume district action Friday when they host Cumberland County at the Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium. Tipoff for the girls’ game is 6 p.m.
