After four straight baseball losses last week the Central High School Red Raiders turned the tide Monday with a decisive, 7-2 district win over Cumberland County.

The big inning for Coffee County was the fourth, when the Red Raiders scored four runs with two out. After the first two batters were retired, Tyler Cavender walked, and the next five batters–Stanton Keele, John Reece Gilmer, Hunter Smithson, Trace Friedlein, and Wyatt Day–all rapped singles.

Peyton Meeker pitched all seven innings to notch his second win of the season.

Meeker also added an RBI double and scored a run. Also posting good numbers at the plate was Keele (2-for-3, 1 run, 2 RBI). In all, eight players were involved in producing runs for Coffee County on the night.

The win raises Coffee County’s record to 5-16 and 2-5 in District 6-AAA.

The Red Raiders will play the Jets again tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. in Crossville.
