“Main concerns with any strong to severe thunderstorms that do develop will be damaging winds, although large hail, brief heavy downpours from the stronger thunderstorms resulting in minor localized flooding and the formation of a few tornadoes cannot be ruled out,” NWS said on its Facebook page.

According to NWS, a strong cold front will approach and move across the area, bringing with it a line of showers and storms, some of which could reach strong to severe thresholds.

Behind the system, cold air will filter into the region. High temperatures Thursday and Friday are forecast to return to the 40s and 50s.
