Meeting: AEDC Women’s Club @ Lakeside Club

The next meeting of the AEDC Woman’s Club will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017.  Jane Lovett from Falls Mill in Belvidere, TN, will be the featured speaker.  Jane and her husband developed the Museum of Power and Industry, Inc. to trace the history of Falls Mill through working exhibits.  The museum, housed in the water-powered mill on Factory Creek in Franklin County, features exhibits on the early textile industry, the cotton gin era, wood working shop, and the grain milling period.  Jane has a degree in Anthropology from UTC.  Jane’s talk will feature highlights in the restoration of the mill and development of exhibits on the property.  She will also demonstrate hand spinning and bring a pot of cheese grits to share with the members. Table donations at the January meeting will go to United Way of Coffee County.

New Manchester event venue Church @117 will hold an open house  from 5-8 p.m., Jan. 5 at the former East Fort Church of Christ building.

 

Pocahontas Community Center Music Night @ Pocahontas Community Center

Pocahontas Music Night is at 5 p.m. Every Thursday at the community center – 1940 Pocahontas Rd. Morrison, Tenn. It is open to all musicians and singers. All proceeds go to the center. Call Ray at 615-765-7835 for more information.

Little Squirts swimming lessons @ Manchester Recreation Complex
Jan 5 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Little Squirts is a swim lesson program designed to teach toddlers swimming and water safety skills. The program will start on Thursday, Dec. 1 and end on Tuesday, Feb. 28. No registration is required. Classes are offered every Monday and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost is $3 per class for members of the recreation complex and $5 for non-members.
