A benefit for Richie Lusk will be held July 23 at the Summitville Volunteer Fire Department, to help with his treatment following being diagnosed with cancer. Auditions for those 16 and younger will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., July 23. Ages 17 and older will audition 2-5 p.m., July 23. All age audition will be 2-5 p.m., July 24 and call backs will be July 25.
Those seeking the role of Dorothy will be asked to sing “Over the Rainbow.” The Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion will sing “If I Only had a Brain.” Children will sing “We’re Off to See the Wizard” as a group.

A cappella auditions will not be recognized.
Adults will read multiple parts from the script. Other roles require audition with an accompaniment track.
Performances will be Nov. 11-20 at the Manchester Arts Center.

Coffee County Manchester Public Library will host a patron pet show at 10 a.m., July 27. Children and adults are invited to bring their pet of any kind and meet behind the library by 10 a.m. Please have your pet restrained. Even a normally calm pet may become excited and we don’t want to chase hamsters through the woods. The event will be cancelled if the weather does not cooperate. Pre-registration is not required, neither is a library card, and it’s free.
The state of Tennessee’s annual sales tax holiday is held every year, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on the last Friday in July and ending at 11:59 p.m. the following Sunday night. During this weekend, certain goods may be purchased tax free.
