Nutcracker auditions

Duck River Dance will hold auditions for “The Nutcracker 2016” Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 21-21 at the studio on 200 E. McLean St.

Auditions are open to all dancers in our community, even those who are not students of the studio.

“In order to present the most exciting show possible, we encourage anyone who has dance experience to audition.  In addition to dancers, we need other performers to fill the cast.  If you are a gymnast, acrobat, actor, we have a role for you,” said owner- artistic director, Danelle Afflerbaugh.

“This is a wonderful Christmastime tradition and we look forward to bringing it to the stage in Manchester, at the beautiful Manchester Arts Center,” she added.

Productions of the “Nutcracker” are the most well-know and widely attended ballets of most dance companies. This will be the studio’s first production of the “Nutcracker.”

Those planning to audition arrive promptly and immediately proceed to the lobby to complete an audition form. Pictures will be taken for the director’s reference. Be prepared to learn choreography in the style of role for which you are auditioning. Hair must be pulled away from your face and attire should allow movement.

Auditions will be at noon for acrobats/gymnasts. Actors and non-dancing roles will be at 1 p.m.

Young dancers ages 6-9 will audition at 2 p.m., 10-15 – 3 p.m. and dancers ages 16 and older at 4 p.m.

En pointe dancers of all ages will audition at 5 p.m. Ballerinas who have danced en pointe for at least six months may audition for a role en pointe.  Regardless of age, if you are en pointe, you must attend this audition time, but dancers may attend any other applicable auditions as well.
