Just add it to the trophy case. Or perhaps it can go on the wall with the other one-of-a-kind artifacts draped around the interior.
Jiffy Burger, the folksy, down-home restaurant commonly recognized as a Manchester icon, was recently recognized in the Tennessee Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards as a runner up for the best burger in Middle Tennessee. The 550,000-circulation magazine released the awards earlier this month – Buster’s Place in Murfreesboro took first place honors with Jiffy Burger named runner-up. Jiffy Burger is located at 1001 Hillsboro Blvd.
“That’s so neat to know that people think that much of our burgers and our restaurant,” said Nancy Pennington, who
runs the restaurant with her daughter, Tracy St. John.
Humble in her approach, Nancy revealed the secrets to leaving a lasting impression with customers that lead to recognition in publications such as Tennessee Magazine and multiple “Manchester’s Finest” awards from the readers of the Manchester Times.
“The key is giving our customers a good product for their money,” explained Nancy, who started running the restaurant with her husband David Pennington in 1973. The restaurant originally opened in 1965 when Helen and J.W. Pennington started it up.
