Fundraiser benefitting Coffee County Imagination Library

Posted on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 8:40 am

The Coffee County Imagination Library (CCIL) was founded by Dolly Parton as a vision to get a book in the hands of every child from birth to age five, at no cost to the families. Currently, just over 50% of our children in Coffee County are receiving books from this program. Governor Bill Haslam passed the Books from Birth Foundation which supplies part of the cost, but the remaining portion must be provided by the county. The cost to support one child each year is $13. This cost accumulates to approximately $24,000 each year to continue its service. This amount must be raised through donations from businesses and individuals in our local community. A group of five from the Coffee County Leadership Class of 2012-2013 has accepted the task of organizing and starting this annual event to raise awareness and money for this wonderful program. This group has and continues to attend CCIL board meetings and meet with various individuals and businesses to bring the event to fruition. Our event is scheduled for Friday, February 8th at 6:30pm and will be held at the Tullahoma Readiness Center (new armory) located on Hwy 55. We are finalizing some of the evenings events but the evening will consist of a casual dinner buffet donated by Cakes & Catering by Glenda Clark, a crowd participation story writing, guest speaker Wolfgang Roeder (vice-president of CCIL) as well as some silent auction items/door prizes. Adult tickets are $20.00 and Students/Children tickets(12 & under) are $10.00. We are also seeking sponsors for this fun event. For tickets or sponsorship information, please email or call 581-6654. Come and use your imagination while joining in on this familty friendly event!
