The Manchester Times is pleased to announce the addition of veteran journalist Derek Harryman to its editorial staff.
Harryman’s primary responsibility will be covering local sports, said editor Josh Peterson.
“Derek brings experience and a solid knowledge of sports to our editorial staff,” said Peterson. “I couldn’t be more excited to work with Derek. He will really enhance our newspaper, especially our sports section and our online news services. We recognize the importance of sports in our community and this is an opportunity to place someone in a position that understands the sports dynamic in Manchester and has plenty of experience covering it.
“Our goal is to continue to build our award-winning sports section. We want to make the sports fan experience as enjoyable as possible and that is why we offer sports updates through text message and constantly update our website and our social media outlets with scores and results from all local teams. We hope to turn all of that into a comprehensive sports package in our print product every Wednesday and Derek is key to this effort.”
Harryman brings nine years of sports media experience to the Manchester Times.
“I am excited to begin my tenure at the Manchester Times and use my extensive experience covering Coffee County sports to put out the best possible sports product, through print, online and our social media outlets,” said Harryman. “If your kid is playing we want to know about it and we want to make sure it receives media attention.”
Harryman can be reached via telephone at 931-728-7577 ext. 107 and by email at email@example.com.
