Coffee County Central High School’s 60-50 win over Red Bank High School not only helped the team extend its current winning streak to six games, but it also gave the Lady Raiders a championship ending to 2017.
The Lady Raiders (13-1) defeated Red Bank on Saturday night to win the Whitwell Christmas Tournament.
Coffee County looked poised to run away with the game in the early going, storming out to a 36-17 lead at halftime after limiting Red Bank to just six points in the second quarter.
But the Lady Lions came to life in the third quarter, scoring 23 points to cut the Lady Raiders’ lead down to 45-40.
Coffee County would eventually halt the Lady Lion rally attempt and hold on for the championship win.
Freshman Bella Vinson helped close out the fourth quarter, going 7-of-8 from the free-throw line to finish with a team-high 22 points. Vinson ended the tournament with at least 20 points in every game.
Mya Kennebrew led Red Bank in scoring with 16 points.
