MANCHESTER, Tenn. — Lucky No. 7 was anything but that for the Coffee County Central High School girls’ basketball team, which blasted Huntland on Monday night to remain unbeaten.
Freshman Bella Vinson scored 19 points to lead the Lady Raiders (7-0 overall), who took a 24-11 lead over the Lady Hornets after the first quarter.
Abby Morgan and Alliyah Williams also reached double figures, totaling 12 and 11 points respectively.
Red Raiders 54, Huntland 52
Senior Grey Riddle inbounded the ball to Garrett Booth near the Red Raider basketball team’s bench on Monday night against Huntland.
The game was tied at 52, and there were 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Booth drove into the paint, and pushed a chest pass to a wide open A.J. Rollman in the left corner as the Hornets defense shifted its attention to the senior point guard.
Rollman’s 3-point shot floated into the waiting arms of Riddle, who had crept into the paint and tossed an easy game-winning layup off the glass, giving Coffee County a 54-52 victory to improve to 6-0 overall.
Riddle finished with eight points on the night, while Darius Rozier and Booth led the team with 14 points each.
Bryson Foster led all scorers with 22 points for the Hornets.
