The Coffee County Central High School golf team’s season is on an impressive rise, and its only August.
The Red Raiders, with the benefit of their home course at Willowbrook Golf Club, topped a 10-team field to win Wednesday’s Sundrop Golden Classic Tournament with a score of 307. Coffee County has now won five consecutive matches dating back to Aug. 14.
White County finished in second place, 10 strokes behind Coffee County (31-2 overall) with a 317.
Junior Samuel Prater emerged from the pool of players with a 1-over-par 73, which earned him fourth place among all individual golfers. Prater’s score was also one stroke back from the tournament’s individual champion, Jacob Uehelein of Tullahoma, who posted an even-par 72.
Among the Red Raiders’ individual scores was Reid Lawrence (74), Austin Farris (76) and Matthew Hale (84).
