As part of its Team Depot initiative to give back to the community, the Manchester Home Depot teamed up with the Manchester Fire and Rescue Department to perform renovations inside Manchester Fire Hall no. 1 on Hillsboro Boulevard last week.
Team Depot provided $2,000 for building materials and provided volunteer manpower along with City of Manchester’s volunteers to rework the building’s downstairs kitchen and add a training room and training office to the upstairs.
“We have some of our on-duty guys and some of our off-duty guys, the American Legion Riders and members of the Manchester water and street departments who have helped us out,” said Manchester Fire Department chief George DeShields.
“We now have a training classroom with tables for our training,” explained DeShields. “We can fit 12 to 15 people in there at a time.
“And if another department needs some room for training we will gladly open that up for use,” DeShields added….
